Gl1000 front wheel in yamaha R1 fork

Hello everybody! Im diego, spaniard living in belgium!!Im trying to do a swap fitting a yamaha R1 2002 fork, and I will need some advise from you guys, does anybody here fir the gl1000 front fork into the R1 fork? If somebody has done it I would really appreciate to know which bearing has fitted or what modification to the axle hub is needed....what to do with the brakes...thanks guys for your time!

Hello Diego,

you need
wheel bearings
axle of the R1
wheel spacers
brake disc spacers
steering bearings conversion

I rebuild my front fork with showa's
First you need to know the axle size diameter f the Yamaha
you need to know the bearing size of your GL1000 the outher size of that is 42 mm
know you know that you need a bearing that is 25 inner x 42 outher and width 13

If you got that you need to space out the wheel. I made bushes on a mill machine to center out the wheel
than you need spacers for you brake disc. I took 320mm brembo discs of an aprrillia rvs mille

if you go to www.allballsracing.com you can do a front fork bearing coversion from honda to Yamaha
Yamaha YZF-R1 2002 bottom bearing 30 x 48.5 x width 15 99-3541-5
top bearing 30 x 50 width 14.25 99-3512-5

Know the fun begins. building it up. You need clip ons
clutch an brake levers
hoses
electrical wirning
headlamp rest etc etc

These rings fall over the original hub without the speedo device


The discs have a offset of 10mm because if else you dont have enough material to fit over the hub

I used the original wheel hub than brand new spokes and a smaller and wider 17"' front wheel
the clearance from the spokes to the brake calliper is 3 mm
